Computers At Work

Computers are a challenge to the Human intelligence The application of computer science is to make machines imitate what people do, by programming their behavior. You will become the teacher and the computer the student. Your job is to teach your computer to do the thinking for you. It is at work in many walks of life and at all kinds of daily living, and it is still growing. You program your computer to examine every aspect of your process. The computer in return asks you questions based on the information data you enter. You may be in the ages of 60 – 95years young but you can still learn computers. You do not have to leave your home to attend lessons. The lessons are done sitting at your computer, and lessons are delivered through a chat box. This course is designed with an easy to follow guide for the elderly, frail, Isolated and those with a disability. If you feel uneasy to own a computer maybe you feel that you are too old to learn or simply afraid to tackle its technology . your questions are taken over the chat line direct or by phone while you sit at your computer. So what are seniors doing with their newfound computer skills? They’re achieving personal and community goals, unleashing their creativity and, perhaps most importantly, connecting with people, whether across the street or across the world. And we believe that seniors should have the opportunity to access basic resources - resources that enable people to learn more, see more and do more. Seniors have the opportunity to use computer customised according to their needs. Support is 10am – 3pm direct on chat line, where your questions are dealt directly. 7 PAINS DO NOT IGNORE

SEVEN PAINS YOU SHOULD'NT IGNORE By Leanna Skarnulis Site: http://www.webmd.com (1: Worst Headache of Your Life-- When someone says they have the worst headache of their life, "what we learned in medical training was that was a classic sign of a brain aneurysm. (2: Pain or Discomfort in the Chest, Throat, Jaw, Shoulder, Arm, or Abdomen-- Be aware that heart conditions typically appear as discomfort, not pain. "Don't wait for pain. Risk for heart disease increases dramatically after menopause. It kills more women than men even though men are at higher risk at any age." (3: Pain in Lower Back or Between Shoulder Blades-- "Most often it's arthritis," Other possibilities include a heart attack or abdominal problems. (4: Severe Abdominal Pain-- Still have your appendix? Don't flirt with the possibility of a rupture. Gallbladder and pancreas problems, stomach ulcers, and intestinal blockages are some other possible causes of abdominal pain that need attention. (5: Calf Pain-- A blood clot that can occur in the leg's deep veins. "The danger is that a piece of the clot could break loose and cause pulmonary embolism [a clot in the lungs], which could be fatal. . (6:Burning Feet or Legs :-- According to the American Diabetes Association. "In some people who don't know they have diabetes, peripheral neuropathy could be one of the first signs. "It's a burning or pins-and-needles sensation in the feet or legs that can indicate nerve damage." (7:Vague, Combined, or Medically Unexplained Pains :-- "Various painful, physical symptoms are common in depression. "Patients will have vague complaints of headaches, abdominal pain, or limb pain, sometimes in combination."Because the pain might be chronic and not terribly debilitating, depressed people, their families, and health care professionals might dismiss the symptoms.

Addiction My Colorful Imagination

Alcohol and Drugs meant My colorful imagination My Conviviality, and companionship. It meant release from all my fears. It gave me the illusion of feeling good Without the sense of deterioration The central nervous system slowed down The old pleasures are gone. They are now but only memories. Misconception included visions of violence, Street crime, dirty needles including jail. I lied, I stole, and I cheated I also sold myself. I was consumed by fear and self-pity I was trapped into an illusion of make believe I buried my defects under thick layers of self-justification Finally ambushed me deeper into alcoholism, more drugs and misery. Driven to an area of discomfort and trouble I buried my defects under thick layers of self-justification I buried myself in a world of make believe and dreams From my chambered heart My body built for survival The world is growing I must grow with it to survive A decision without action is meaningless So action I took. I joined Detox Centre I never looked back I revealed my life for I am spirit. I am a beautiful form of energy, I am a life being and within this body I exist. My life energy surrounds my body in an aura of life. When the time arrives and my clock strikes My body will die, but I am eternal I will have everlasting life in Gods' kingdom And long after dusk The trees above echoed With songs of birds. The summer rain! The water in the dam was at full capacity. The wind! Exhausted The cool breeze from the south, was a welcome companion? I SURVIVED when I took the challenge. Author Mary C Newton

Wave Open Your Heart and help a SENIOR with a COMPUTER & SOFTWARE to generate THE NEW WORLD for SENIORS who are AGED, FRAIL, ISOLATED, has a DISABILITY, Sick or at Risk

1me My name is Mary I dedicate most of my time to help Seniors who are Aged, Frail, Isolated, has no family, has a disability, sick or at risk. I am the online Seniors Carer, Teacher (computer free lessons), activity organizer, senior writers club. Mostly my work will involve keeping up with daily activities and keeping the mind active.

I am involved as a volunteer with Telecross one of the aged care programs run by the Red Cross.

The staff and volunteers that are employed by the Red Cross are specially chosen. We dedicate our time of work wholly to the well-being of seniors. We make phone calls to client members who are isolated, frail, have a disability, and are alone, sick or at risk. If at any time there is no answer to our call we try twice more at ten minutes interval to try and reach the client. If there is no response the qualified staff attempt emergency procedures and it is this type of procedures that saves many lives.
I cannot express the great satisfaction when I say "Good morning Ronald this is Mary from Telecross” the client replies "I'm OK Mary thanks for ringing." We have a short conversation and that makes the beginning of our day.

We demonstrate ways in which we work to increase participation in the community and to improve access to their physical health and well being. And I have been introducing seniors to computers.

I am quick minded, versatile, intelligent, and imaginative .I was born on the 16th June 1945, so I am no spring chick Love the ocean and beautiful paintings, sceneries helping others and flowers. I devote a lots of my time writing. I have three grandchildren Christa Lee, Ricky and Zachary and twins on the way

My passion is ... Computers, writing and helping others

I need support creating the easy to use Web Site for seniors new to computers, a world of aging gracefully, kill isolation by connecting the senior community to each other. I am a non-profit business (New to the market) Three other volunteers had joined me to get it together.

Insicious Insomnia

Insidious Insomnia

We all had nights where we toss and turn and just cannot get to sleep and the following morning we are tired and grumpy.  Insomnia is not just the odd sleepless night; it is a constant condition that can damage health and happiness.

We toss and turn all night wishing there was some way you could just relax enough to go to sleep

We dread going to bed knowing we probably will not be able to sleep

Stress and anger from our day can stay on our subconscious mind making it hard to relax at night.

If you can find no valid reason for your sleep problems, chances are your problems are stress related.  Work on relieving your stress can help you cure insomnia.

Stress is something we can overcome with persistence.  There are many ways of coping with stress and again, different things work for different people.  Handling anger and stress in a positive way, spending time with other people, exercising, and maintaining a positive outlook, can stop stress and anger from disturbing your sleep.

A sleep diary can be a helpful way to keep track of your sleeplessness.  Awareness of your sleep patterns can help you discover the cause of your insomnia with a chance for a good night’s sleep.

Do not worry about dietary food but instead concentrate deeply on the consumption of the food you eat.

Do not eat after 7pm;

Try an herbal tea such as chamomile tea.

Chamomile tea is used to reduce stress, promote relaxation and restful sleep.  Chamomile was used thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt, where it was honored for its great curative properties.  It was first used in Europe to help with insomnia.  Used as a tea, chamomile is known to relax smooth muscle tissue.  In this way, it is useful in calming the nervous system and relieving menstrual cramps.

A cup of full milk hot chocolate work for many people.  A simply cup of warm milk worked for others

Chamomile tea is a reliable source for many.

Milk is very valuable in insomnia.  A glass of milk, sweetened with honey, should be taken every night before going to bed in treating this condition.  It acts as a tonic and a tranquillizer.

"The milk I'd say was the greatest of the three because there was no brain activity.

Play a soothing tape or CD with soothing nature sounds, and   if you cannot sleep, get out of bed.  Grab a book.  Read for half an hour to an hour, and try again.  You may be able to sleep, finally.

Relax your body in a warm tub.

The deep breathing exercises will help you to relax’

Avoid caffeine after dinner.

Caffeine is a drug that is naturally produced in the leaves and seeds of many plants.  Caffeine is defined as a drug because it stimulates the central nervous system, causing increased alertness.

Caffeine gives most people a temporary energy boost and elevates mood. Caffeine is in tea, coffee, chocolate, many soft drinks, and pain relievers and other over-the-counter medications.

Many people feel that caffeine increases their mental alertness.  Higher doses of caffeine can cause anxiety, dizziness, headaches, and the jitters.  Caffeine can also interfere with normal sleep. It can aggravate certain heart problems. It may also interact with some medications or supplements.  If you are stressed or anxious, caffeine can make these feelings worse.

The Sleep Research Laboratory at Flinders University is trialing a radical new treatment for this condition.

It takes one to two hours to sleep and then  wake up a number of times in the course of a night  with very  broken sleep.  The next day.  You feel quite tired, and irritable.

The problem is, few people persevere.

Ever heard the saying count sheep.  According to Professor Lushington, when you think of an activity like counting sheep you are distracting yourself. You are able to stop thoughts — which for some people can be quite productive.

Anything that stimulates your mind should be avoided prior to going to bed

Research indicates that sleeping on your back is the best position for relaxing.  It allows for the deepest, restful breathing. Avoid sleeping on your stomach this causes pressure on your lungs and results in shallow breathing.  The deeper you breathe, the greater the relaxation.
